CachyOS went from LTS to Server kernel

Technitium running in podman via network_mode: host

technitium was listening on while on LTS

0.0.0.0:53
[::]:53

rebooted into -server kernel (7.1.5-1 cachyos-server) and only listening on [::]:53

needed to literally state each IP:

127.0.0.1:53
10.20.30.40:53
20.40.50.60:53
100.20.30.40:53

to get connectivity back..

Could it be that you might need to add these sysctl at the host?

net.ipv4.ip_nonlocal_bind=1
net.ipv6.ip_nonlocal_bind=1

I've also tried only 0.0.0.0:53 (then there's nothing) only [::]:53, and when I leave it out it isn't there..

Since you can boot between the kernels on the same box without changing container settings or technitium/dns-server settings in between - can you spot any differences if you compare sudo sysctl -a between the two kernels?

Like dump the output to txt-files and run diff (or meld if GUI) between the files.

Im running technitium/dns-server 15.4 myself as a container in podman (using VyOS Stream 2026.03) with host-networking enabled and I have not noticed the issues you have observed.

In my case its:

vyos@vyos:~$ uname -a
Linux vyos 6.6.128-vyos #1 SMP Mon Mar 16 10:04:04 UTC 2026 x86_64 GNU/Linux
vyos@vyos:~$ podman -v
podman version 4.9.5

I would expect an updated VyOS Stream will be released shortly that includes both updated kernel and podman - there is always the nightly rolling releases for bleeding edge where the stream editions are more like "beta" of upcoming LTS edition.

Thanks for the post. Do you see any binding error when you have 0.0.0.0 configured? If yes then do share it.
